About the Exhibition
The most pressing issues facing us today revolve around questions of our relationship to the planet we inhabit. While in the past the wilderness photographs of Ansel Adams defined the natural environment as a place of untouched pristine beauty, much recent photographic work has examined the increasing complexity of our interaction with the environment by focusing on such topics as pollution, global warming, industrial development, resource depletion, sustainability, recycling, and land use. - PhotoPlace Gallery

About the Juror Kate Ware
Kate Ware is currently Curator of Photography at the New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe, where she recently organized the landmark exhibition Earth Now and produced the accompanying catalog. Before coming to the New Mexico Museum of Art, Kate Ware was the Curator of Photographs at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She has also served as Assistant Curator in the Department of Photographs at the J. Paul Getty Museum during the 1990s. In addition to Earth Now, she has written monographs about the work of Man Ray, Laslo Moholy-Nagy, Harry Callahan and others. She is a frequent juror and reviewer of contemporary photography and has written essays on the art of the twentieth and twenty- first centuries.
