As part of the program 'Der Filmische Körper', the DIAGONALE 2000 screens The Austria Placard, a short film contribution from Ger Ger.

The Austria Placard

The found footage work "The Austria Placard" ("Das Österreich-Plakat") deals with the change of government. Aesthetic, unaesthetic, striking und un-striking. The confrontation of national and international coverage plays just as an important role as the production of found footage to moving image collage. The found footage largely stems from the Austrian full feature "1. April 2000" (B/W) and from far-east TV newscasts of the change of power in Austria.

The DIAGONALE

The DIAGONALE is the festival of Austrian film. Every year it offers an exhibition of films and made-for-TV movies of the previous production year, as well as a survey of current filmmaking. At the core of the DIAGONALE is its selected program, put together by a program commission from submitted material consisting of films and videos of every genre and length: short, avant-garde and animation films, as well as evening-long documentary work and feature films.
