1 month project: month #1
Model/Participant: Caroline
1 month project was originally created as a concept art project by Ger, to be held in the personal living space of strangers each time for the duration of 1 month. While living together new photos of the person in his/her home should be created everyday.
First documentarily, later eventually even in staged scenarios put in contrast to daily routines.
The main interest was in a certain intimacy that could not be captured otherwise as well as in expected changes in perception, viewing angles and how these would impact aesthetics over time. The first 1 month move-in was scheduled to take place in Berlin/Germany and should be followed by more residencies and participants in Los Angeles right after.
The project’s premiere with Caroline Lasserre in November 2009 in Berlin, however, takes a different turn than planned. The month is developing much more personal and emotional - the move-out does not occur. From the project arises a unique love affair. Pictures are witness of these emotions from day 1. In July 2010, finally, they co-found the platform 1monthproject.com to work cooperatively on personal photo/media series from now on. The original name is now a pseudonym; the concept in its original form is discontinued.
These pictures are a selection of the original documentary series and represent the first month.
